Banks and financial institutions using social media
December 8, 2010
Recently, we gave a presentation to a local bank in Springfield, Massachusetts on the reasons why they should be utilizing the web to interact with their customers, current and potential. Facebook, LinkedIn and blogs are the 3 mediums we chose to focus on. Banks have been scared of social networking, as their privacy is a major concern. But social networking is what you make of it, and YOU choose the information you want to share.
It is trackable, two-sided, flexible and best of all… free. It’s not for everyone, but it IS for banks and financial institutions, and here we show how.
Check out the presentation below for some successful strategies on making the most of social networking. Leave a comment on your thoughts or if you have any questions!

The staff here at Market Mentors tries to give back, get involved and support our community as much as possible through out the year. That’s why each year we support and volunteer for the Salvation Army of Springfield’s Coats for Kids program as well as the Toy for Joy program. This past Saturday, our team went down to the Army at 9am to get ready to help families pick out winter coats for their children, all donated by the community and washed by Belmont Laundry. The event was a huge success and we want to thank everyone involved… donors, supporters and volunteers alike. Thank you for helping the Salvation Army keep every child warm this winter season. It was a fun and rewarding experience for all. And look… Jessica Gibby, our Administrative Assistant, made it into the Sunday paper!
Nice!
Today, Elizabeth Taras, our Account Manager & Public Relations Specialist, is down at the Mass Mutual Center for the AMICCON event. A long process in the making, the day is finally here, and proves to be a successful one at that. The event is running all day long and will introduce OEMs, procurement & government contractors to the region and manufacturers to each other. Their goal is to spotlight the region’s strengths in: precision machining, plastics, paper & packaging, electronics, clean/green technology, and medical devices. They aim to keep manufacturing LOCAL and not sent overseas or to other areas of the country.
We recently celebrated our junior graphic designer, Heather Mastriani’s 22nd birthday. She claims 22 is “the end of the world…” Oh, Heather.
On another note, after many meetings, brainstorming sessions and presentations, we are finally going through with a Facebook page for one of our local clients in the banking & financial industries. We are excited at the opportunity to try new things for the bank and spread their word in a unique, viral way. We will announce the bank’s name and where you can find them on Facebook once it is live… be sure to look out for it around the first week of December, we’ll be holding contests for those who help spread the word!
That’s all for now, folks. Thanks for staying up to date with the Market Mentors team!
